Wax, Water, Pigment and Fire: New Approaches to Encaustic Painting

This encaustic exploration is all about mixing media in wild and exciting ways—experimenting with what it is to paint with non-traditional materials, embracing freedom of mark-making and immersing ourselves in the artistic process. The workshop draws inspiration from our natural environment, inviting us to pause and connect with this wondrous place, returning to our creative selves. We will use wax, resin, pigments, water and fire to create our own take on mixed media, creating finished pieces on panel and other substrates. These unconventional approaches to encaustic painting are an opportunity to take artistic expression in new directions—in a fun-loving, supportive and sustaining atmosphere.
